Climate Action and Resiliency Plan 

Through adoption of its award-winning Climate Action and Resiliency Plan in 2019, Alameda has set an ambitious goal of reducing emissions by 50% below 2005 levels by 2030 and becoming carbon neutral as soon as possible. The CARP charts a course to achieve this goal through equitable improvements to transportation, buildings, energy use, and waste management.

Sea Level Rise Adaptation

Urban Forest Plan

Alameda is preparing a comprehensive citywide Urban Forest Plan that will update the City’s existing street tree plan and expand the scope to include park trees, trees in easement areas, trees near power lines that are maintained by Alameda Municipal Power, and trees on private and other non-City of Alameda properties. Thus, Alameda’s 2010 Master Street Tree Plan will become the Urban Forest Plan.

Climate Action and Hazard Mitigation Plan 

Alameda's 2021 Climate Adaptation and Hazard Mitigation Plan:

• describes the natural and climate hazards that impact Alameda's people, buildings, businesses and asset;
• identifies our vulnerability to those hazards, and;
• describes actions to reduce our risk from these hazards.

The plan addresses the hazards of earthquakes, floods, sea level/groundwater rise, tsunamis, heat, smoke, PSPS outages, drought, and dam failure inundation.

Plastic Free Straws and foodware 

In the Fall of 2017, the Alameda City Council took a giant step toward reducing plastic litter in our environment by passing the Alameda Disposable Food Service Ware Reduction Law. This law was created to reduce the number of single-use plastics generated within the City of Alameda.
